A kind-hearted crane accepts the dinner invitation from a lonely fox, but the fox makes fun of the crane by serving soup in a flat dish. To teach the fox a lesson, the crane then invited the fox to dinner and serve the meal in a vessel with a long, narrow neck. This Aesop's fable teaches children the ethic of reciprocity.
